As Malta pushes forward with its energy efficiency and carbon reduction goals, demand is growing for qualified professionals who can lead these efforts. Energy Audits are legally required for large enterprises under S.L. 545.33, in line with the EU Energy Efficiency Directive. If you’re an engineer or applied science professional looking to take your career in a more impactful, compliance driven direction, the Energy Auditor – REWS Approved course could be your next step.
Why it Matters
These audits must be carried out by professionals listed on the REWS (Regulator for Energy and Water Services) Competent Persons Register, a list open only to those who complete an approved Energy Auditor training programme.
This means that without the Energy Auditor – REWS Approved certification, you’re not legally permitted to carry out energy audits in Malta, regardless of your technical background.
Why Engineers are a Natural Fit
If you’re already an engineer, you’re halfway there. The skills you use every day as systems thinking, data analysis and problem-solving are the very foundation of what energy auditors do. Certification simply gives your work legal recognition and expands your potential project scope across both public and private sectors.
